Edenshaw “Haida Bentwood Box” Throw by Gwaai and Jaalen Edenshaw

Edenshaw “Haida Bentwood Box” Throw by Gwaai and Jaalen Edenshaw

The Haida Bentwood Box Velura™ blanket, also called Great Box Considered, is a contemporary recreation by the brothers Jaalen and Gwaai Edenshaw as an effort to understand the work of an unnamed 19th-century Haida Master artist. The rediscovery and exploration of this Box has been a source of growth for Gwaai and Jaalen. The return of this child of the Great Box brings the knowledge held in its four walls back home where the box will be used.

Jaalen and Gwaai Edenshaw are brothers and artists, members of the Ts’aahl Eagle clan from Haida Gwaii. Individually, their art is recognized internationally. Their common interest in Haida story, land, language and art has inspired them to work together on a number of projects.

Velura blankets are soft, fluffy, and luxurious in texture. Each Kanata blanket features a design by celebrated First Nations artist, and are guaranteed to add a unique touch to your home. This listing is for one regular sized throw in the Haida Bentwood Box/ Orange and Turquoise colourway.
