Haida Wear

The Haida used natural fibers like cedar bark and sea mammal skins like the seal and sea otter for clothing before contact with the non-native world. They also made capes, leggings, aprons, tunics and vests, headbands and dresses by weaving the wool from mountain goat into beautiful intricate patterns. After contact, they traded for clothing and wool Hudson Bay blankets which they made into wonderful regalia called button blankets. The buttons used on the blankets outline traditional Haida clan crests. They also make button vests.
